How to register for gun license training:

Training includes:

  • Non-restricted firearm safety theory and practical operation training and examination (rifles, shotguns).

  • Restricted firearm safety theory and practical operation training and examination (handguns, short-barreled firearms).

Classes are small, with a maximum of 9 students per class. Training in the Winnipeg area starts when there are at least 5 registrants, ensuring each student fully understands the content.

Training schedule:

  • Saturday: 10-hour training and examination for  non restricted licenses, and Sunday: 6-hour training and examination for restricted licenses.

Training locations: Several in Winnipeg, to be notified after registration. 

Student requirements:

  • Ages 12 to 17 require guardian authorization.

  • Ages 18 and over, permanent residents, citizens, international students, visiting scholars, tourist visa holders, family reunion visa holders, work permit holders. Residents of other Canadian provinces can also participate; the training certificate is recognized nationwide.

Training fees (Manitoba):

  • Non-restricted firearm safety training (long gun license) - $175

  • Restricted firearm safety training (handgun license) - $175

  • Bundle price for both courses - $300

Note:

  • Must complete non-restricted license training before restricted license training.
